DIY Spray Ingredients - What Do They Do, and Where Can I Get Them?
Witch Hazel
serves as a binding agent, helping essential oils mix better with water and preventing separation, so you don't need to shake the bottle as often. It is an astringent widely used in skincare and is available at grocery stores, drugstores, and other retailers.
Vegetable Glycerin
is a clear, odorless liquid derived from plant oils, that helps with binding, and moisturizing, and is gentle on the skin. Available at grocery and drug stores, Walmart, and hobby and crafts stores.
Glass Spray Bottles
Easily found online or in some natural food stores or craft and hobby retailers. Glass is always preferred since some essential oils are extremely potent and some can damage or deteriorate plastic containers. If necessary, diluted oils should be fine in HDPE plastic (high-density polyethylene) containers.
Natural Alternative
Using lavender and other essential oils offers a non-toxic, natural way to infuse your surroundings to feel invigorating, uplifting, energizing, relaxing, or refreshing. There are hundreds of oils to choose from. You can adjust the strength by adding more or less to suit your needs.
Great for gifts, goodie bags, stocking stuffers, and just because.
